Sun Belt Conference
MOBILE, Ala. (5/16/26) – Arkansas State track and field recorded two top five team finishes while juniors Spencer Taylor and Carlo Martinez-Jaramillo captured gold in the last day of action Saturday at the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Taylor earned his first individual conference title with a personal-best time of 46.44 in the men’s 400 meters. He is the first A-State men’s athlete to win the outdoor conference title in the event since Jason Brooks clocked in at 46.99 in 2006.
It is the fourth fastest 400-meter time by a Red Wolf, with Kendrick Bullard (1994), Nathan Daniels (2005) and Anthony Stroman (1973) filling the top three spots.
Martinez-Jaramillo captured his second gold medal in the 2026 edition of the Sun Belt outdoor championships after clocking in at 14:27.81 in the men’s 5000 meters. He holds the fourth-fastest outdoor time in A-State’s history for the event and adds his third conference championship of the season alongside the 10,000 meters and men’s cross country crowns.
Brandon Williams added a silver medal to his collection after posting a 1:50.41 time in the men’s 800 meters. Brett Jacobs rounded out the top five in the event with a time of 1:51.64.
Colby Eddowes, Jared Moore and JoJo Modile claimed bronze in their respective events. Eddowes registered a time of 13.81 in the men’s 110-meter hurdles and Modile set a new personal record at 13.63 in the women’s 100-meter hurdles while Jared Moore threw for a personal best distance of 54.79m (179-9.00) in the men’s discus throw.
Modile remains at eighth place in the Red Wolves’ outdoor record book and Moore moves to 10th. A-State’s women’s 4×400 relay team jumped to fifth in the program’s outdoor history for the event after registering a time of 3:46.04.
As a team, the Scarlet and Black finished at third place on the men’s side with 112.5 points and the women’s team ended the weekend tied at fifth place with Southern Miss (67).

The NCAA West Preliminary Rounds, held at John McDonnell Field in Fayetteville, are scheduled for May 27-30. More information regarding qualifiers will be available at a later date.
