MONROE, La. (1/3/26) – Senior guard Zyion Shannon reached 1,000 career points in the waning minutes of the game, but it was Crislyn Rose who led Arkansas State women’s basketball (13-3, 4-0 SBC) with 16 points and six assists in the Red Wolves’ 11th consecutive win, defeating ULM (7-7, 1-3 SBC) 89-71 Saturday afternoon in Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
The 11-game win streak matches last season’s 11 game streak that stretched from January 2, 2025 through February 5, 2025.
A-State shot at a 43 percent clip (29-of-67), and 32 percent from three (12-of-37), with ULM making 42 percent of their shots (24-of-57) and only 13 percent beyond the arc (2-of-15).
Bella Weary (15), Marlie Dickerson (13), and D’Arrah Allen (10) also hit double digits, with both Dickerson and Allen shooting 4-of-7 from the field (57 percent), and both making two threes.
Rose netted a fadeaway jumper to score first, accompanied by a Wynter Rogers layup. ULM hit a flurry of shots but A-State responded with a Mia Tarver three and two from deep from Marlie Dickerson. Bella Weary also hit home on a three in the final seconds with A-State taking a 21-16 lead.
ULM saw the free throw line early and often throughout the second period, but Rose went 4-for-5 and hit both free throws to score 10 points in the quarter alone. Both squads traded threes leading into a 7-0 Warhawk run to tie the game. Rogers then took advantage of a last-second foul to give the Red Wolves a two-point lead at halftime making both free throws.
Both teams were slow to score at the start of the second half, but A-State put ULM on lockdown for nearly five minutes and climbed atop a 19-2 run with scoring from six different players. A handful of ULM free throws countered by a Weary three ended the third quarter with a 16-point difference in favor of the Red Wolves.
Arkansas State extended the lead out to as much as 21 thanks to McCollister’s playmaking and team discipline at the free throw line. ULM shortened the difference in the final minutes with free throws but Yves Cox muscled out a contentious layup to give the Red Wolves the 89-71 final.
