    COLUMBIA, Mo. (4/8/24) – Wrapping up the regular season this week at the Tiger Intercollegiate, Thomas Schmidt led the Arkansas State men’s golf team in the first two rounds played at The Club at Old Hawthorne Monday.

    Schmidt finished the day at 1-under par 141 turning in a 4-under 67 in the first round. Schmidt is tied for 21st individually and among 26 players under par after 36 holes. Jake Lile joins five players at even-par thus far following rounds of 70 and 72 on the day for tie for 27th. Jack Maxey totaled 7-over par 149 (75-74) to tie for 74th while Pierce Johnson was one stroke behind at 8-over par 150 (76-74) to tie for 80th. Anthony De Schutter finished the opening two rounds at 16-over (82-76) to tie for 102nd.

    Among 18 teams in the field, the Red Wolves are tied with No. 51 South Carolina for 14th in the team standings at 14-over 582. A-State opened the day with a 4-over par 288 and just before darkness closed out a 10-over par 294 to end the day. Entering Tuesday’s final round, A-State is two strokes back of Chattanooga (+12) for third, eight strokes back of Wyoming (+6) for 10th and 18 strokes back of Iowa State (-4) for fifth while Central Arkansas leads at 15-under par.
