JONESBORO, Ark. (6/10/26) – Arkansas State men’s golfer Thomas Schmidt became the first All-America selection in program history, collecting honorable mention accolades from PING and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and Golfweek.

Schmidt was instrumental in helping A-State to its first appearance at the NCAA Championships. He finished at 5-under par 283 to tie for 16th, the second-highest individual finish by a Sun Belt Conference men’s golf student-athlete at the championship site. The three-time Sun Belt Conference Golfer of the Year produced his best season with a single-season program scoring average of 69.38.

Schmidt won three events to be among eight players nationally with three or more wins on the season and added three more finishes inside the top 10, including a pair of runner-ups. Over 12 events played, he produced 30 of 37 rounds under par, including 17 in the 60s. Schmidt finished tied for third at the Sun Belt Conference Championship at 7-under par 209. He placed 21st at the Marana Regional at 5-under par 211 (69-71-71).

Schmidt is among 10 non-autonomy conference student-athletes on the PING All-American list and among seven on Golfweek’s.
