AUBURN, Ala. (5/14/25) –Thomas Schmidt and Jack Maxey concluded the Arkansas State men’s golf season as individuals at the NCAA Regional hosted at the Auburn University Club this week.
Schmidt turned in a 6-over par 78 in the final round to total 4-over par 220 for the event and a tie for 25th. It is his second consecutive top 25 finish at a NCAA Regional after finishing 20th last season in Austin. It marks the fifth time an A-State individual has finished inside the top 25. Jack Maxey carded his best round of the week at 2-over par 74 to finish up tied for 52nd at 11-over par 227.
Schmidt and Maxey represented the seventh and eighth A-State men’s golfers to ever compete as individuals at an NCAA Regional. It was the first time the Red Wolves have had multiple individual qualifiers in the same season. It is the third consecutive season and seventh time over the last eight NCAA postseason competitions the Red Wolves are represented.
As a team, A-State set a program record with a stroke average of 285.17 this season. The Red Wolves were runner-up in the Sun Belt Conference Championship match play. Schmidt will enter his senior season with a program record 71.39 stroke average while Maxey completes his A-State career with a 73.11 stroke average, fifth best in program history. For the 2024-25 season, Schmidt finished with a 71.09 stroke average, just shy of his program record of 71.00 set last season.
