JONESBORO, Ark. (1/27/22) – Success on the course and in the classroom has been consistent pieces of the Arkansas State cross country programs, as they both received United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) academic honors.

The A-State men and women were both named All-Academic Teams, as both boasted cumulative GPAs of 3.0 or better. In order to qualify, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, while student-athletes must hold a GPA of at least 3.25 and finish in the top 25 (or 10 percent) at their respective regional championship meets.

A-State’s men, fresh off their first Sun Belt Conference crown, qualified with a cumulative GPA of 3.32 and are one of just four from the Sun Belt in the 150-team list. The three-time champion women’s squad posted a 3.52 GPA as one of nine Sun Belt teams among 168 qualifying programs.

Individually, SBC women’s overall champion Pauline Meyer earned All-Academic laurels as one of 114 women from 58 different institutions. The Gronau-Epe, Germany, native is the only woman from the Sun Belt to make the list.

Meyer capped off her illustrious A-State cross country career as one of the best to ever don the Scarlet and Black, finishing 19th overall at the NCAA South Central Regional Championships. She finished as the Red Wolves’ top runner in 13 consecutive meets and earned All-Region honors in both 2019 and 2021, while garnering USTFCCCA All-Academic honors three years in a row.
