MADISON, Miss (4/29/26) – Play was suspended due to darkness after a lengthy weather delay at Annandale Golf Club, with the Arkansas State men’s golf team tied for the second during the final round of stroke play in the Sun Belt Conference Championship.

Play is scheduled to resume at 7:00 a.m. Thursday with some teams having as many as eight holes left to play. In the event the third round is not completed by 10 a.m., the semifinals for match play will be canceled and the top two teams advance. The match play final is required to begin prior to 2 p.m., otherwise the champion will be the 54-hole leader or, in the event 54-holes are not completed by all teams, Coastal Carolina will be declared the winner as the leader after 36 holes.

A-State, Coastal Carolina and James Madison were the only teams to complete the third round Wednesday. Coastal Carolina leads the field at 13-under par 851 while James Madison is scored at even-par 864. The Red Wolves are finished with an 11-under par 853, the third-lowest 54-hole total at a Sun Belt Conference Championship in program history. Southern Miss is also scored at 11-under par with one player remaining on the course when play resumes. South Alabama is scored at 1-over par 865 with one player remaining on the course. Georgia Southern (+3), ULM (+9), Georgia State (+13), Troy (+19) and App State (+19) complete the top 10 with play suspended.

Although final positions are not known, all five Red Wolves finished the 54-hole tournament. Thomas Schmidt and Jake Wallis are tied for third at 7-under par 209, tied for the fifth-lowest 54-hole total by any player in program history. Schmidt’s round was highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 11th, his third eagle of the tournament. Cole Kirby finished up at 1-over par 217 to stand tied for 19th while Milan Reed was tied for 24th at 3-over par 220. Jake Lile was 1-under par in the final round to tie for 42nd at 7-over par 223.

The completion of third round play is projected to resume at 7:00 a.m.  Match play semifinals are projected to begin at 9:30 a.m. with the final match following completion of the semifinals. Live coverage is available on ESPN+ and Scoreboard.
