HENDERSON, Nev. (2/28/24) – Earning wins over five top-100 teams and tying with another, the Arkansas State men’s golf team finished tied for third at the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate that concluded Wednesday at Reflection Bay.
The Red Wolves fired a final round 281 Wednesday to tie No. 50 Long Beach State with a 54-hole total of 17-under par 847. No. 45 VCU won team honors at 20-under and No. 38 South Florida (-18) finished second. A-State finished ahead of No. 56 Middle Tennessee (-1), No. 63 Toledo (+3), No. 66 Stetson (-10), No. 79 Little Rock (-9), and No. 83 UNC Wilmington (+7).
Devyn Pappas tied for the low round of the tournament with a final round 66. He climbed 29 spots on the individual leaderboard to join teammate Jack Maxey in a tie for fourth at 6-under par 210 for the event. Thomas Schmidt posted his fifth consecutive par or better round to finish up tied for 12th with a total of 212. Hugo Ronnberg (-1) tied for 34th, Pierce Johnson (+7) tied for 90th, Anthony De Schutter (+9) tied for 99th and Chris Somerfield (+18) tied for 119th.
A-State continues its spring slate March 17-19 at the All American Collegiate hosted by Houston at the Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas.
