    Red Wolves Second After Opening Round at Lady Thunderbird Invitational

    SAINT GEORGE, Utah (3/10/22) – Opening play at the Southern Utah Lady Thunderbird Invitational, the Arkansas State women’s golf team is tied for second among 16 teams after the first of three rounds at Sunbrook Golf Course.
     
    A-State tied for the lead with 48 pars and was second with 15 birdies on the scorecards in a 14-over par round of 302. The Red Wolves are tied with South Dakota State, three strokes behind first round leader Seattle. A-State is six strokes clear of fourth place Weber State while Utah Valley is fifth at 24-over par 312.
     
    Kayla Burke turned in the low round of the day among A-State golfers with a 1-over par round of 73. Burke enters the second round tied for fifth individually, three strokes behind individual leader Jessica Zelasko of Weber State. Charlotte Menager closed out a 3-over par 75 opening round and is tied for 11th. Olivia Schmidt finished the first 18 holes at 4-over par 76 to tie for 15th while Casey Sommer (T27) and Elise Schultz (T55) round out the Red Wolves in the field.
