WILMINGTON, N.C. (3/24/24) – The Arkansas State men’s golf team began competition in its third event of the spring portion of the schedule and stands 16th with play suspended due to darkness in the second round.
With the course playing an average of six shots over par Sunday, A-State is a combined 42-over nearing completion of its second round. The Red Wolves turned in a 23-over par 311 in the first round and is 19-over thus far in the second, six strokes back of Minnesota and Wright State for 14th on the team leaderboard. Auburn leads at 7-over par while cracking the top-10 required a score of 28-over par.
As play was halted Sunday evening, Thomas Schmidt led the Red Wolves at a combined 8-over par thus far. Schmidt is tied for 40th with an opening round 6-over par 78 and at 2-over after 17 holes in the second round. Jack Maxey is tied for 55th following a 4-over in the first round and 6-over in the second. Devyn Pappas (+13) is tied for 73rd, Hugo Ronnberg (+15) is tied for 81st and Pierce Johnson (+17) is 86th on the individual leaderboard at the conclusion of the first day of competition.
