NEW CASTLE, Del. (1/18/26) – The third-ranked Arkansas State women’s bowling team earned a fourth-place finish among 36 teams at the Northeast Classic.
A-State (46-19) entered the day fifth in the standings and opened with a 4-2 victory over No. 5 Louisiana Tech in a Baker best-of-seven match. After a 186-134 setback in the opening game, A-State responded with a 214-168 advantage to even the series. Louisiana Tech took game three 202-168, but the Red Wolves took the next three games, 269-222, 247-198 and 233-183, to close out the victory.
Meeting No. 10 Maryville in the next round, A-State fell behind 2-0, 236-180 and 213-174, but reeled off four consecutive wins to take the match. A-State took the third game 222-186 and had a one-pin advantage, 156-155, in game four to even the series. The Red Wolves sealed victory with a 201-182 advantage in game five and a 213-200 edge in game six.
In the third-place matchup, the Red Wolves faced No. 6 Wichita State and came up short in a 4-2 setback. A-State took game one, 219-173, but Wichita State answered taking game two, 211-186, and three, 196-167, to build a 2-1 lead. A-State grabbed a 222-200 tally in game four, but the Shockers closed out the match with 246-20 and 213-211 margins.
A-State, a top four finisher in four of five events this season, returns to action next week in Arlington, Texas at the Prairie View Invitational.
