      Red Wolves Fall at South Alabama 4-0

      MOBILE, Ala. (4/2/22) – In the final road match of the season, the Arkansas State women’s tennis team was dealt a 4-0 setback by South Alabama Sunday at the Bruce David Lubel Tennis Courts.
       
      South Alabama (17-3, 7-1 Sun Belt) took the doubles point and three singles fixtures to post the 4-0 margin against A-State (5-12, 1-6 Sun Belt). Yasmine Humbert and Sofia Vdovychenko were dealt a 6-3 setback on court two and the Jaguars clinched doubles with a 6-4 win on court three against Emily Surcey and Hunter Roper. Thea Rice and Nejla Zukic were tied 4-4 on court one when the doubles point was clinched.
       
      The Jaguars took a 2-0 advantage with Lara van der Merwe topping Rebecca Brody 6-1, 6-3 on court six. Humbert was downed 6-1, 6-1 by Otoha Aoki on court five to put South Alabama within a victory of clinching the match. Nikola Kohoutova sealed the victory for the hosts with a 6-1, 6-1 decision on court one against Thea Rice. Hunter Roper took the first set against Mika Pasanen 6-2 on court four, but was the lone set won by an A-State player Sunday. Zukic dropped the first set on court three 6-2, but led 4-1 when the match was called. Surcey lost in a tiebreak on court two in the first set and trailed 1-0 in the second set.
