NORTHRIDGE, Calif. (11/7/25) – The Arkansas State women’s tennis team earned five victories, three in doubles and two in singles, to begin play at the Cal State Northridge Invite.
 
A-State faced Youngstown State, back-to-back Horizon League champions, in doubles and swept the trio of matches. Lilly Cvanciger and Carla Muro Castellvi outlasted Yeseniia Ovcharova and Line Greyling 7-6 (2) on court one. Anna Grigoreva and Hanmare McAslin teamed up for a 6-3 decision against Hanna Telzynska and Yoana Dudova on court two. Meghna Arun Kumar and Sarah Millard completed the sweep with a 6-4 victory on court three against Lorena Cedeno and Sarah Partida Garcia.

“We had another great day competing with our Red Wolves spirit and fight,” said Millard. “With some new doubles pairings, we came out on top finishing the day with a sweep.  We are looking forward to taking this momentum into tomorrow and Sunday and closing out the fall with momentum.” 
 
The majority of the Red Wolves faced Loyola Marymount in singles action while two players met players from New Mexico. Grigroreva came up short on court one, 6-4, 6-3 while Cvanciger was dealt a 6-4, 7-5 setback on court two. Muro Castellvi fell 6-4, 6-2 on court three and McAslin suffered a 7-5, 6-2 decision on court four. Millard picked up a 6-4, 6-4 win on court five and Arun Kumar won 7-5, 7-5 on court six.
 
A-State is scheduled to face BYU in singles and Pacific in doubles on Saturday.
