MONROE, La. (4/18/26) – Arkansas State (23-15, 8-9 SBC) chipped away at the ULM (21-18, 9-8 SBC) lead throughout the game but was walked off with the last out on the line Saturday afternoon by a score of 2-3 at Lou St. Amant Field.
A one-out walk in the bottom of the first preceded a ULM home run to put the Warhawks up 2-0 early. Both teams stayed disciplined at the plate, drawing a walk or striking a hit in every inning until the fifth.
The Red Wolves opened the fifth with a hit-by-pitch on Kaden Amundson, followed by a single from Ashton Quiller. A sac bunt put both runners into scoring position, and Amundson advanced home on a wild pitch.
Ryan Ashford entered for the last two outs of the fourth inning, and retired the side in the fifth. The lefty worked his way into the seventh inning for 3.0 innings, no hits, and a career-best six strikeouts.
The top of the eighth was an active one, with a leadoff walk from Cason Campbell putting the tying run on base. Campbell moved over on a sac bunt, and was joined on the base path by Patrick Engskov after getting hit. Pinch hitter AJ Mustow loaded the bases on a walk, and Ashton Quiller was also hit at the plate for an RBI-HBP.
A pair of leadoff singles in the top of the ninth made noise but A-State was unable to score either before ULM took over for the bottom of the final frame. A walk-off home run with two outs ended the game in favor of the home team with a final score of 2-3.
Win: Holden Hess (2-4)
