NASHVILLE, Tenn. (8/12/26) – Arkansas State (0-1-0) soccer started off the 2026 season with a defensive joust with Lipscomb (1-0-0), falling 1-0 Wednesday evening at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex.

Arkansas State recorded their first shot of the season in the 24th minute off the foot of Lu Flores. 10 minutes later the Bison broke the draw with a goal in the 35th minute. The Red Wolves finished the first half with a pair of corners and three total shots, none of them staying on target.

A transition play in the 61st minute ended with the ball in the back of the Red Wolves’ net, but a review established a Lipscomb foul at the beginning of the play, resetting the score back to 1-0 in favor of the home side. The tide shifted for A-State, with a flurry of corner kicks that stressed the Bisons’ set-piece defense. In the waning minutes the Red Wolves turned up the heat, stringing a line of passes together through the Lipscomb defense that ended in a chaotic ricochet that threw the ball just above the Bison crossbar. Kayla Windsor opened up for a shot at the top of the box in the 89th minute, saved by Lipscomb’s keeper in the Red Wolves’ final opportunity of the night.

The Red Wolves finished the night with eight total shots, two on target compared to Lipscomb’s 14 total shots, four on target. Taylor Sweat handled all 90 minutes between the sticks, making three saves with one goal allowed.

A-State is set for their home debut against in-state rival Little Rock on Sunday, August 16.
