STARKVILLE, Miss./ OXFORD, Miss. (3/22/24) – Colby Eddowes moved up to a tie for fourth in Arkansas State track and field history in the 110-meter hurdles on Saturday to cap a solid weekend of competition in a pair of meets in Mississippi.
Eddowes clocked a time of 13.75 at the Alumni Bulldog Relays, which moves him into a tie for fourth in program outdoor history, to win the event in Starkville. Alden Wetzel was 15th, finishing in 15.34.
In the men’s 200 meters, Eddowes ran a personal-best 21.92, while Wetzel ran 22.23. Wetzel later placed 10th in the men’s javelin, hurling the implement 44.87m (147-3).
Izzy Daines finished fifth in the women’s javelin, leading a trio of Red Wolves with a throw of 40.58m (133-2). Miranda Burgett (33.63m/110-4) and Madison Holloway (29.18m/95-9) placed 13th and 15th.
Daines and Burgett also competed in the 100-meter hurdles, placing 18th and 21st, respectively, with times of 15.03 and 15.14. Daines placed 38th in the 200 meters with a time of 27.08, while Bella Coscetti was 43rd (27.82).
At the Ole Miss Classic in Oxford, Michelle Ogbemudia placed seventh in the shot put with a toss of 15.36m (50-4.75), which stands fifth in school history. Nyaluet Diew finished 16th with a mark of 13.46m (44-2.0).
Selase Sampram registered a throw of 44.92m (147-4) to place sixth in the women’s discus, with Ogbemudia (41.59m/136-5) and Liya Guy (41.28m/135-5) placing 12th and 13th.
Willem Coertzen placed fifth in the men’s shot put, uncorking a toss of 17.30m (56-9.25), while Menachem Chen was ninth with a mark of 16.33m (53-7.0). Chen also placed seventh in the men’s discus (51.30m/168-3) and Coertzen was 11th (48.45m/158-11).
In the women’s 800 meters, Marizenne Jonker crossed the finish in 2:02.94 to place seventh. Emma Guadagnoli competed in the women’s 1500 meters, placing 15th with a time of 3:56.80.
Ryan Parson was 17th in the men’s 800, finishing in 1:57.19.
Maggie Hunter and Sophey Pope concluded the day in the women’s 3000 meters, finishing in 10:48.27 and 11:06.46.
