JONESBORO, Ark. (5/6/26) – Arkansas State track and field claimed two of the four Sun Belt Conference weekly awards on Wednesday, as Brandon Williams claimed Men’s Track Athlete of the week while Carly Pujol secured Women’s Field Athlete of the Week.
Williams posted a conference-leading time of 1:48.30 in the men’s 800 meters and set a new program record. He became the second A-State athlete to post a sub-1:49.00 800-meter time in program history and passed Hannes Fahl’s previous record of 1:48.70 set at the 2023 Bryan Clay Invitational.
The Oxford, Mississippi, native holds the 12th fastest 800-meter time in the South Central Region.
Pujol recorded the highest mark of any Sun Belt pole vaulter during the week of April 26-May 2 and won her fifth event in six appearances during the 2026 outdoor season. The Cape Girardeau, Missouri, native reached a height of 4.11m (13-5.75) on April 30 at the Maroon and White Tune Up.
Pujol’s season high stands at 4.21m (13-9.75) and leads the Sun Belt, while the next highest mark in the conference sits 4.08m (13-4.50).
