JONESBORO, Ark. (4/10/24) – Arkansas State Athletics has announced a full slate of “Pack Day” activities centered around four sporting events, including its annual spring football game, being held on the A-State campus Saturday, April 20.
The action gets underway with day two of the Arkansas State Alumni Classic track and field meet. The first event of the day is the women’s 5,000-meter run at 9:30 a.m.
The Red Wolves tennis team hosts Southern Miss in its final home match of the season at 10:00 a.m. Both the track and field meet and tennis match have free admission and will be contested at A-State’s Track & Field, Tennis and Soccer Complex, located near the Marion Berry Parkway on the Arkansas State campus.
Centennial Bank Stadium will be a hub of activity centered around the A-State football team’s annual Spring Game. Open tailgating is available and encouraged in Halsey Thrasher Harpole Tailgate City at Mike Watson Park, where the Hijinx Kids’ Zone will be set up with inflatables, games and other activities beginning at 10:00 a.m. There will also be a variety of food trucks available to fans at that time.
Textbook Brokers will have the Team Store open at Centennial Bank Stadium beginning at 10:00 a.m. and will also be conducting a Sidewalk Sale. All Red Wolves apparel and merchandise will be at least 40-percent off as part of the sale.
Head coach Butch Jones and the Red Wolves football team will conduct a free youth football clinic leading up to their Spring Game. The clinic is open to all youngsters in grades 1-8 and will be held on the field at Centennial Bank Stadium.
Check-in for the camp will begin at 10:30 a.m. inside the stadium with the camp itself beginning at 11:00 a.m. Preregistration is not required, but is encouraged. Online registration for the free clinic is available by visiting ArkansasStateFootballCamps.totalcamps.com.
Two A-State football greats are scheduled to return to campus as part of the Pack Day festivities. J.D. McKissic and Blake Grupe will meet fans at an autograph signing beginning at 11:30 a.m. The signing will take place at the A-State Athletics tent inside Tailgate City.
McKissic is the program’s all-time leader with 289 career receptions for 2,826 yards and went on to play for three NFL teams over seven seasons. Grupe is coming off his rookie season as the starting placekicker for the New Orleans Saints and is A-State’s all-time leading scorer with 354 points.
The Red Wolves will compete in the Spring Game at 1:15 p.m. Concession stands will be open, and free A-State football posters will be available at the event. Shortly after the conclusion of the game, the field will open for fans to get autographs from the A-State players and coaches.
Pack Day closes out with the A-State baseball team taking on Appalachian State in the second game of a Sun Belt Conference series. First pitch is set for 4:00 p.m. at Tomlinson Stadium.
