JONESBORO, Ark. (2/11/26) – Arkansas State women’s tennis freshman Meghna Arun Kumar has been named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.
Arun Kumar picked up a pair of singles victories against BYU and Memphis. Playing in the No. 6 position against BYU, Arun Kumar defeated Karina Mohamed 6-4, 6-3. She followed it up with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 win at the No. 5 position over Clemence Thouard of Memphis on Sunday as the Red Wolves earned a 4-2 win over a Memphis squad that has won two of the last three American Athletic Conference Championships. It was A-State’s first win against Memphis since 2009. Both victories were over players that had defeated Arun Kumar in the fall slate.
This season, Arun Kumar is 8-5 overall in singles, 3-1 in the dual season.
The Red Wolves home opener is Friday with a 10:00 a.m. first serve at Jonesboro Country Club against Tennessee State.
