BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (2/4/24) – Jacob Lawrence won the men’s 3000 meters at the USA Jaguar Invitational, clocking the 10th-best performance in Arkansas State indoor track and field history Sunday afternoon.
Lawrence edged the runner-up finisher with a time of 8:22.43 and led three A-State runners in the event. Matthew Dunsworth (8:52.19) and Benny Brenneman (8:53.87) crossed the finish 11th and 12th, respectively.
In the women’s 3000 meters, Anna Hunter ran a personal-best 10:33.33 and placed eighth ahead of Maggie Hunter’s season-best mark of 10:45.67 in 10th place. Ivanna Hargis (11:31.62) and Sophey Pope (11:33.19) also competed, placing 15th and 16th.
Three Red Wolves notched personal bests in the women’s mile to open the day, led by Abbey Coberly’s sixth-place time of 5:13.96. Lizzee Winkler finished 11th with a time of 5:17.34 while Erika Krueger ran a collegiate-best 5:33.81 to place 23rd. Maddie Haldiman placed 18th with a mark of 5:23.43 and Hannah McLaughlin was 28th with a time of 5:41.84.
In the women’s 800 meters, Emma Guadagnolia placed third overall with a personal-best time of 2:16.67, while Coberly placed eighth by finishing in 2:21.13. Marizenne Jonker (2:23.41) and Haldiman (2:28.86) placed 14th and 24th.
Ryan Parson earned a fifth-place result in the men’s mile, finishing the race in 4:17.49 ahead of Zeke McCain (13th, 4:29.29) and Andrew Mason (19th, 4:34.15). Brenneman clocked an 800-meter time of 1:59.69 to place 15th.
Hanyla Milligan ran a personal-best 25.61 in the women’s 200 meters, placing 15th. AJ Allen ran a time of 27.29 in the 200 after running 8.01 in the 60 meters.
Josh Jones finished 10th in the men’s 60-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 8.42, while Alexis Taylor finished the women’s event with a seventh-place mark of 8.88.
Taylor also competed in the women’s long jump, placing 13th with a mark of 5.38m (17-8), along with an 18th-place time of 7.82 in the 60 meters.
In the men’s long jump, Matthew Williams (6.62m/21-8.75) and Will Hart (6.31m/20-8.5) placed 12th and 20th. Williams also placed 13th in the triple jump with a mark of 13.57m (44-6.25).
Mehki Hoo placed 13th in the men’s 400 meters, finishing in 49.83, and Jeremiah Green ran a 33rd-place mark of 51.90. CJ Burge competed in the 60 meters, running 7.28. In the men’s 200 meters, Handre Jonker placed 33rd with a time of 23.10.

The Red Wolves conclude their regular season Friday and Saturday, traveling to Nashville, Tenn., for the Music City Challenge (Feb. 9-10) and returning to Birmingham for the Bulldog Invitational (Feb. 10).
