POINT CLEAR, Ala. (4/15/24) – Freshman Ashley Kim carded the lowest round of the day among all golfers to help the Arkansas State women’s golf team climb three spots to sixth after two rounds of the Sun Belt Conference Championship at Lakewood Golf Club.

Kim registered her first career eagle on the first, three birdies and just three bogeys on her round to enter the final round tied for eighth at 2-over par 146. Olivia Coit and Morgan Beaulieu continued strong performances at Lakewood as the duo turned in rounds of 2-over par 74. Coit is tied for 15th at 4-over par 148 while Beaulieu is tied for 21st at 5-over par 149. Madison Tenore was inserted into the lineup Tuesday and provided a 3-over par 75 as a counter. Elise Schultz totaled 5-over par 77 and 37th overall at 9-over par 153.

Beginning the second round on the back nine, the Red Wolves were grouped with Marshall and Georgia State. Despite windy conditions and fast greens, A-State and Marshall turned in the two lowest rounds of the day to climb up the leaderboard. Marshall had the low round of the day at 4-over par 292 to climb to fifth while A-State’s 5-over par 293 saw the Red Wolves move up to sixth. A-State has totaled 18-over par 594 thus far, two strokes off its lowest 36-hole total at the SBC Championship in program history.

Old Dominion occupies the important fourth spot in the standings at 15-over par 591 after going 13-over in the second round. Texas State (+5) leads the field while ULM (+11) and Georgia Southern (+13) round out the top four heading into the final round. The top four teams at the completion of stroke play Wednesday advance to match play semifinals Thursday morning.

Tee times for the final round begin at 8 a.m. off No. 1 and No. 10 tees. Live coverage begins at 10:30 a.m. on ESPN+ and live scoring is available on Golfstat.com.
