JONESBORO, Ark. (6/3/25) – The 2025 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Baseball team has been announced, with five Red Wolves earning recognition for their academic success.
Kaden Amundson, Patrick Engskov, Jelle van der Lelie, Jack Nelson, and Wil French were selected, marking back-to-back seasons with five Red Wolves receiving honors. French and van der Lelie received the honor for the second consecutive year, while Amundson, Engskov, and Nelson make their academic all-district debut.
Amundson made 45 starts and 48 appearances at catcher during the 2025 campaign, batting .244 with four doubles, one triple, and three home runs while tallying 20 RBIs. The Otsego, Minn., native posted a .995 fielding percentage and caught 17 runners stealing, the fourth most among Sun Belt catchers.
He finished the 2024-25 academic year with a 4.0 cumulative grade-point average and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in health studies.
Engskov finished with the second-highest batting average on the team at .294 over 53 starts, tallying 13 doubles and nine home runs along with 35 RBIs and 32 runs scored. The infielder recorded a team-high 99 total bases and fell one short of the team lead in RBIs and homers.
He concluded the 2024-25 academic year with a 3.81 cumulative grade-point average and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in management.
Van der Lelie concluded the 2025 campaign with a 4.32 ERA over 25 appearances and 41.2 innings pitched. The righty posted a 3-3 record with 34 strikeouts, limiting opposing hitters to a .242 clip at the plate.
He finished the 2024-25 academic year with a 3.85 grade-point average and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in general studies.
Nelson posted a 3.86 ERA with a team-leading 57 strikeouts over 21 appearances and six starts in 2024-25. The lefty recorded a 1-1 record with one save over 49.0 innings thrown, limiting opposing batters to a .217 average at the plate.
He ends the 2024-25 academic year with a 3.76 cumulative grade-point average and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
French recorded a .291 batting average over 54 starts and tallied 15 doubles, three triples, five home runs, 31 RBIs, and 47 runs scored. The Jonesboro native established a new program record for career runs scored with 178, and tied the program record for career triples with 10.
He concluded the 2024-25 academic year with a 3.60 grade-point average and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in agribusiness in 2023-24.
The 2025 Academic All-District® Baseball teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. To qualify, student-athletes must compete in 90 percent of the institution’s games played or must start in at least 66 percent of the contests. For baseball and softball pitchers, it is 17 appearances or 25 innings pitched.
