HATTIESBURG, Miss. (10/12/25) – Arkansas State soccer (3-5-4, 1-4-2 SBC) recorded their first conference win of the season against Southern Miss (2-11-1, 1-6-0 SBC), with Kennedy Horn leading the team with two goals and an assist.
The Arkansas State offensive started early with Lu Flores picking the ball off and sending it to Keelyn Peacock in the left side of the box. Peacock ricocheted it off the keeper and Horn was there to secure the goal in the fourth minute. Peacock again made magic with a scrum in the box in the 21st minute ending when she lobbed a high ball over the keeper and bounced it into the net. Southern Miss scored on a free kick in the 37th minute, but a stellar pass by Leigha Dobbins into position gave a clean shot to Horn to bury her second goal of the game in the top left corner.
A-State kept rolling after halftime with Lu Flores scoring her first goal of the season in the 60th minute, and a 79th minute goal by Alexia Watts after she played off a to-and-fro passing drill with Horn for the 5-1 score.
Between the sticks, Damaris Deschaine tied her season-best seven saves, including fending off six corner kicks from the Golden Eagles.
