NORMAN, Okla. (10/17/25) – After earning two victories Thursday to advance to the main draw, sophomore Lilly Cvanciger defeated ninth-seeded Giorgia Roselli of Wichita State to reach the round of 32 at the ITA Central Regional Championships.

Among three Red Wolves in the round of 64, Cvanciger earned a straight-set decision over Roselli 6-0, 6-3 to advance. Cvanciger meets Roisin Gilheany of Oklahoma at 9:00 a.m. Saturday in the round of 32 matchup.

“Coming up just short in doubles gave me the right motivation to fight in singles,” said Cvanciger. “I simply used that as an extra fuel and felt really good, had the right clarity out there, and the team helped me to simply keep going. I’m so so happy with the win today, let’s focus on tomorrow now.”

Anna Grigoreva battled Ashlee Narker of Iowa State, but came up just short in a 7-5, 7-6 (4) decision. Carla Muro Castellvi was also in the main draw round of 64, but fell 6-1, 6-4 against Xin Tong Wang of Wichita State.

Cvanciger and Muro Castellvi began the day in a round of 32 doubles match against Emma Rizzetto and Conley Raidt of Nebraska. Seeing most sets advance to deuce, the sophomore duo fought to an 8-6 setback against the third-seeded pair from Nebraska.

Hanmare McAslin defeated Raluca Puscas (Missouri State) 6-1, 6-0 in a consolation singles match Friday while Sarah Millard fell 6-4, 7-5 to Jana Ruzic of Drake. McAslin and Grigoreva teamed up for an 8-1 win over Madison Hill and Emmerson White of Saint Louis in the doubles consolation bracket.

A-State competes for berths in both singles and doubles at the 2025 NCAA Division I Championships, which are automatically awarded to singles finalists and doubles champions at each of the 13 regional sites. The main draws feature 64 singles players and 32 doubles teams.
