FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (2/25/26) – Arkansas State (6-3, 0-0 SBC) was unable to match No. 6 Arkansas (7-2, 0-0 SEC) in game two of the midweek series at Baum-Walker Stadium despite turning three double plays on the day in the 1-0 game Wednesday afternoon.

The Razorbacks notched the first run of the game with an RBI single to score the runner from second before the Red Wolves ended the inning with a 4-6-3 double play.

A-State, quiet offensively, turned another double play in the third inning to tally the first two outs of the inning. Collin Maloney started the game on the mound for the road team, handling three innings with four hits and one run allowed while striking out two along the way.

Ryan Ashford entered in relief, tossing 1.1 innings and striking out two and letting up a single. Sophomore right-hander Tyler Weimer entered in the fifth and handled the last two outs of the inning along with the next five outs into the seventh.

The Red Wolves put their leadoff hitter in the eighth on with a walk, who then advanced on a sac bunt into scoring position. An intentional walk of Ashton Quiller put the winning run on base but Arkansas State was unable to capitalize at the plate. The Razorbacks’ leadoff hitter in the bottom of the inning singled on base, but A-State found their third double play of the game to stay out of trouble until two more batters reached. Jelle van der Lelie entered from the pen to record a strikeout and keep the Red Wolves alive heading into the final inning.

Arkansas State was unable to put a runner on in the ninth, with Arkansas securing the win, 1-0.

    Win: Steele Eaves (3-0)
    Loss: Collin Maloney (0-1)
    Save: Parker Coil (1)
