COLLEGE STATION, Texas (5/28/25) – On Wednesday’s opening day of the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds at E.B. Cushing Stadium, a pair of Arkansas State track and field athletes punched their tickets to the NCAA Outdoor Championships, finishing among the top 12 in their respective events.
Noa Isaia notched his first trip to the national meet, qualifying in the men’s hammer throw, while Bradley Jelmert earned his second career trip to the outdoor championships and third overall national championship bid.
Isaia earned his spot at nationals by placing ninth in the hammer throw. He threw 65.97m (216-5) to give A-State a contestant in the event at the national championships for the second time in three seasons.
Jelmert secured his trip to Eugene by clearing 5.42m (17-9.25) in the pole vault – good for fifth among the 48 contestants.
Colby Eddowes – who is already qualified for the outdoor championships in the decathlon – advanced to Friday’s 110-meter hurdles quarterfinal, placing second in his heat with a time of 13.60. He will race for one of 12 coveted spots at the national championships at 6:15 p.m. Friday.
Thursday’s competition features a pair of A-State women in field events. Carly Pujol will jump in the pole vault at 5:30 p.m., while Michelle Ogbemudia will throw in the shot put at 6 p.m.
