JONESBORO, Ark. (9/12/26) – The Arkansas State (1-1, 0-0 SBC) defense forced four turnovers, returning two for scores, and the Red Wolves rushed for 256 yards on the ground to best West Georgia (0-3, 0-0 UAC) by a score of 52-7 on Saturday night at Centennial Bank Stadium.

Trey Owens accounted for 135 yards through the air, doing so on 13 completions over 17 attempts, and added two touchdowns to the stat sheet. Solomon Baggett led the team with 70 yards on the ground and joined Kenyon Clay and Drew Dickey with rushing touchdowns in the contest.

A-State’s four forced turnovers against the Wolves marked the most since a victory over Troy on October 26, 2024. Robert Stevens III became the 12th Red Wolf since 1995 to force a fumble and record an interception, while Five Hamilton added a 91-yard pick-six to the stat sheet.

Noah Flores returned a fumble 68 yards to the endzone, marking the longest fumble return since 2021, and Brandon Greil accounted for the Scarlet & Black’s second recovery on the night.

After a scoreless first quarter, Owens threw touchdown passes on back-to-back drives to push A-State ahead 14-0. Chauncy Cobb was on the receiving end of a 28-yard touchdown reception at the 12:50 mark while Jaylen Bonelli capped the next drive on a 30-yard reception with 5:28 to go.

The opposition pushed into A-State territory before Flores’ 68-yard fumble return ended the drive, but West Georgia countered with a 37-yard touchdown pass from Colton FitzGerald to T.J. Lockley with five seconds remaining in the half.

A fumble on the opening drive of the second half gave West Georgia a chance to create a one-possession ballgame, but Hamilton’s pick-six ended those chances and pushed A-State ahead 28-7. Joshua Ofor forced the opposition’s second fumble of the contest and Greil recovered to set up a 31-yard drive that lasted six plays and ended with a five-yard touchdown run by Clay.

Clune Van Andel posted a 25-yard field goal and extended the lead to 38-7 as the contest entered the fourth quarter. Dickey scored on a four-yard touchdown run to complete the opening drive of the final period, and Baggett added a 33-yard touchdown run on the last drive to create the final score of 52-7.
