THREE THINGS TO NOTE:
THE PNC LENNY LYLES INVITATIONAL
Arkansas State Track and Field will compete at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational on Jan. 30-31 inside the Norton Healthcare Sport and Learning Center in Louisville, Kentucky. This will be the third consecutive season in which the Red Wolves compete at the meet. Last season, senior Jacob Pyeatt established a new indoor school record for the men’s 3000 meters, clocking in a time of 7:58.67.
LAST TIME OUT
A winter storm limited A-State to multi-events competition only at the Fighting Illini Challenge in Champaign, Illinois. Freshman Kercher Herring highlighted the Red Wolves’ weekend with a total of 5,131 points in his first heptathlon as a collegiate athlete. The total ranks eighth all-time in A-State’s indoor history for the event, and resulted in a fifth-place finish. Miranda Burgett was the lone Red Wolf to compete in the women’s pentathlon, setting a new personal best in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.93.
THE THROWER’S GAME
A-State has claimed five event titles to begin the 2025-26 indoor campaign, and three have been earned by the Red Wolves’ throwers. Junior Menachem Chen recorded his first shot put title of the season at the Commodore Winter Challenge on Dec. 6 with a distance of 17.80m (58-4.75) and added another at the Samford Invitational on Jan. 16, posting a 17.42m (57-2.00) mark to claim the top spot. Freshman Finja Dziobek helped A-State complete a clean sweep of the shot put titles at the Samford Invitational, recording a distance of 13.92m (45-8.00) to claim the top spot on the women’s side.
