    BIRMINGHAM, Ala./SAN MARCOS, Texas/AUSTIN, Texas (3/30/24) – Arkansas State track and field athletes posted multiple performances that rank among the program’s outdoor top-10 marks on Saturday, concluding action at a trio of meets.

    The Red Wolves tallied 3 event titles and four marks inside the top 10 in school history on Saturday, competing at the UAB Spring Invite, Bobcat Invitational and Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.

    At the UAB Spring Invite, Dawson Mayberry was A-State’s first event winner, taking the men’s 5000 meters with a time of 14:42.35. Nati Enright was fourth, running a season-best 14:56.41 while freshman Matthew Dunsworth ran a career-best 15:21.11. Coleman Wilson rounded out A-State’s competitors with a sixth-place result and time of 15:33.14.

    Sophey Pope and Ivanna Hargis competed in the women’s 5000, placing seventh and ninth, respectively, with times of 20:00.58 and 20:21.76.

    Josh Jones won both the 110-meter hurdles (14.39) and 400-meter hurdles (53.38) in Birmingham, while Kenyon Parker moved up to ninth in school history in the 110-meter hurdles in San Marcos. Parker finished third with a time of 13.86, behind runner-up Colby Eddowes’ mark of 13.84.

    Tyra Nabors placed seventh in the 100-meter hurdles at the Bobcat Invitational, running 13.82.

    A-State’s shot putters ended the day on a strong note at both the Texas Relays and Bobcat Invitational. In Austin, Selase Sampram and Michelle Ogbemudia notched career bests and moved into the top 3 in school history in the event. Sampram placed sixth with a throw of 16.77m (55-0.25), moving up to second, while Ogbemudia was eighth with a mark of 16.26m (53-4.25) to tie for third all-time.

    Freshman Nyaluet Diew capped the day at the Bobcat Invitational with a fifth-place finish, throwing 14.81m (48-7.25) – a mark which stands 10th in program history.

    Also in San Marcos, Menachem Chen threw a collegiate-best 16.85m (55-3.5) in a third-place finish, while Chris Boyd (11th place) and Noah Isaia (20th) registered tosses of 15.88m (52-1.25) and 13.33m (43-8.75). Willem Coertzen placed 11th in the men’s shot put at the Texas Relays, uncorking a toss of 17.46m (57-3.5).

    Marizenne Jonker earned a runner-up finish in the women’s 800 meters, running a personal-best 2:17.45. Emma Guadagnoli was third, finishing in 2:18.98. Abbey Coberly ran 2:22.72 to place seventh while Hannah McLaughlin finished in 12th, running 2:29.54. In the men’s race, Handre Jonker finished in 1:56.70 and Jeremiah Green crossed the finish in 2:07.12, placing seventh and 19th, respectively.

    Je’Breiya Chapman was ninth in the women’s 400 meters, clocking a time of 1:02.56, while Matthew Williams finished 16th in the men’s 100 meters (11.31). Spencer Taylor ran the 400 meters in San Marcos, finishing in 48.28.

    In the 200 meters, Mehki Hoo placed eighth in the men’s race with a time of 22.27, and newcomer Reneisha Andrews placed 18th in the women’s 200 meters with a mark of 26.42.

    Kaci Andrus competed in the women’s high jump at the Bobcat Invitational, clearing 1.56m (5-1.25).

    NEXT UP

    A-State returns to action next Friday and Saturday in Oxford, Miss., competing in the Joe Walker Invite hosted by Ole Miss.
