JONESBORO, Ark. (4/29/26) – Arkansas State track and field is set to compete at the Maroon and White Tune Up on April 30-May 1 and the Music City Challenge on May 1-2.
Action in Starkville, Mississippi, begins with the men’s hammer throw at 11 a.m. on April 30. The Red Wolves will begin competition in Nashville one day later, starting with the men’s and women’s javelin throw at 10 a.m.

THREE THINGS TO NOTE:
TFRI STANDINGS UPDATE: The A-State men’s and women’s teams will enter May at fourth place in the Sun Belt TFRI standings. On the men’s side, Texas State (911.23), App State (831.71) and Louisiana (759.45) are the only programs currently ahead of the Red Wolves (752.00) while South Alabama (722.15) is not far behind. Only five men’s teams in the conference hold a TFRI score of 700.00 or greater. On the women’s side, A-State ranks fourth with a point total of 599.06 while Louisiana (812.12), Texas State (777.08) and App State (665.51) fill out the top three. The Red Wolves, Bobcats and Ragin’ Cajuns are the only Sun Belt teams to hold a men’s and women’s national TFRI ranking.
SAMPRAM SHINES IN B’HAM: Junior thrower Selase Sampram became the first Red Wolf to win two events at a single meet in the 2026 outdoor season. The Wylie, Texas, native posted a 15.89m (52-1.75) mark in the women’s shot put and a 47.27m (155-1.00) discus throw to finish at first place in both events. Sampram holds a team-leading five event titles in 2025-26, all in the outdoor season.
THE JOSH REIDINGER INVITE STANDOUTS: A-State tallied nine event wins and 12 Red Wolves set new personal bests on April 24 at the Josh Reidinger Invite in Birmingham, Alabama. Omar Hussein and JoJo Modile entered the A-State record book during the meet, with the former now ranking sixth in program history for the men’s shot put while the latter places eighth in the women’s 100-meter hurdles. Hussein also ranks third in the Sun Belt for the 2026 outdoor season. Chris Boyd and Menachem Chen are the only throwers in the conference to post a farther distance in the event. Carly Pujol maintained her momentum in the season with an event win in the women’s pole vault. She posted a height of 4.11m (13-5.75) to secure her fourth of the outdoor campaign. The Cape Girardeau native has won the event in four of her five appearances this season and has cleared 4.00m (13-1.50) in each.
