
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (4/17/22) – Carding a 9-over par 297 Sunday, the Arkansas State women’s golf team is tied for second among the 11 teams after the first round of the 2022 Sun Belt Conference Women’s Golf Championship at LPGA International Arthur Hills Course.
The Red Wolves were led by three players completing the three-day tournament’s initial round among the top-10 individual leaders, including Olivia Schmidt in a tie for fifth. A-State ended the day tied with UT Arlington for second with Troy one stroke back in fourth. Georgia Southern leads after the first round at 6-over par 294.
Schmidt had two bogeys, both on the front nine, but birdied the 17th to finish at 1-over par 73. Schmidt is four strokes back of individual leader Mia Kness of Georgia Southern. Casey Sommer and Charlotte Menager finished the opening round at 2-over par 74 and tied for seventh. Elise Schultz is tied for 24th at 4-over par 76 while Kayla Burke is tied for 49th at 8-over par 80.
A-State tees off the second round beginning at 7:45 a.m. (CT) from the first tee along with Georgia Southern and UT Arlington.
