JONESBORO, Ark. (10/15/25) – Arkansas State women’s tennis returns to action on Thursday, beginning play at the ITA Central Regional Championships, held Oct. 16-20 in Norman, Okla.

All matches will be played at the Headington Family Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Oklahoma.

A-State will compete for berths in both singles and doubles at the 2025 NCAA Division I Championships, which are automatically awarded to singles finalists and doubles champions at each of the 13 regional sites. The main draws feature 64 singles players and 32 doubles teams.

“This is the tournament we have circled on our calendar for this fall portion of our season,” said A-State head coach Sujay Lama. “The competition heats up and it’s an opportunity to raise our level. We totally believe we have players in this program that can make a run. The key is finding a way to get it done in the earlier rounds.”

Four Red Wolves – Lily Cvanciger, Hanmare McAslin, Sarah Millard and  Carla Muro Castellvi – will compete in singles qualifying, needing to win two matches to reach the main draw. Cvanciger takes the court at 9 a.m. Thursday taking on Alessandra Xibilia of Kansas City. McAslin meets Zoe Lazar of Missouri at 9 a.m. as well. Millard takes on Zhanel Rustemova of Kansas State at 10:45 a.m. and Muro Castellvi closes out singles qualifying openers at 11:00 a.m. against Luciana Braga of Kansas City.

Should any of those four advance out of qualifying, they will join Anna Grigoreva in the main draw.

Also on Thursday, the first round of doubles gets underway with the Red Wolves facing Tulsa in both matches. Muro Castellvi and Cvanciger face Coral Valle and Uta Askaura at 4:30 p.m. and McAslin and Grigoreva battle Lilitha Sithenkosi Ndungane and Erin McKenzie at 5:00 p.m.
