Box Score JONESBORO, Ark. (4/4/26) – The Arkansas State women’s tennis team fell 4-2 Saturday against Troy playing indoors at RidgePointe Country Club.
A-State (10-8) fell behind early with Troy (11-6) taking the doubles point. Lilly Cvanciger and Carla Muro Castellvi dropped a 6-4 decision on court one and the Trojans clinched the doubles tally with Hanmare McAslin and Helena Bueno coming up short 6-4 on court three. Sarah Millard and Anna Grigoreva trailed 5-3 on court two when the point was clinched.
Troy took a 2-0 lead with Valeriia Avdeeva topping Cvanciger 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. McAslin got A-State on the board with a 7-5, 6-0 win over Leena Metwally at No. 3 singles but the Trojans built a 3-1 advantage with Grigoreva falling 4-6, 5-7 against Maria Guirguis at No. 1 singles. Meghna Arun Kumar made it 3-2 with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Hiba Heni at No. 5 singles but Troy closed out the match with Veena Mariam Nazar downing Bueno 6-7, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6 singles. Millard led Alexia Zarate Valdez 6-4, 6-7, 3-0 at No. 4 singles when the match was finished.
A-State is set to return to action Friday, April 10, at home against South Alabama. First serve is scheduled for noon at the A-State Tennis Courts.
