JONESBORO, Ark. (5/11/25) – Arkansas State baseball (24-26, 12-15 SBC) rallied from an early 3-0 deficit against #19 Troy (37-16, 18-9 SBC) and claimed a 7-6 victory on Sunday afternoon at Tomlinson Stadium.

Jelle van der Lelie made his fifth start of the season, surrendering three runs (all earned) on three hits and four walks over 1.1 innings pitched. Four Red Wolves entered in relief, surrendering four hits and three earned runs combined while striking out eight over the final 8.1 innings.

All nine batters recorded a hit in the contest, with Cross Jumper (3-for-5) and Cason Tollett (3-for-5) leading the way. Six RBIs were evenly split across six hitters, and Jake Henry Williams notched a team-high two runs scored along with his third home run in as many games.

Action began in the top of the second when Troy batted in three on a two-run single and sacrifice fly. Williams cut into the deficit with a solo-homer to right-center before Cason Tollett scored on a sacrifice fly in the next frame.

Wil French capped the inning with an RBI-single and tied the game at 3-3, but Daedrick Cail pushed A-State in front with a single to left field in the third, scoring Cason Campbell from second base.

A bases-loaded situation in the fifth allowed the Scarlet and Black to strike again when Kaden Amundson singled to right field, moving the lead to 5-3. Two quiet innings followed and gave way to a busy eighth, starting with an RBI-triple for the Trojans.

French advanced Ashton Quiller to third on a single in the bottom frame, but a throwing error allowed the runner to score uncontested. Patrick Engskov added with an RBI-single to left center, making the score 7-4 with one inning left.

The Trojans launched a two-run homer in the ninth but it would not be enough as A-State concluded the 2025 home slate with a win. Isaac Sewell (1-0) earned the win and Jack Nelson claimed the save while Luke Lyon (2-2) took the loss.
