ROME, Ga. (5/5/26) – Making its postseason debut, the Arkansas State women’s tennis team left no doubt in a 4-0 sweep of McNeese Tuesday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the UTR Sports NIT Championship at the Rome Tennis Center.

Lilly Cvanciger and Carla Muro Castellvi cruised to a 6-1 win on court one and Sarah Millard and Anna Grigoreva followed shortly after with a 6-1 win on court two. The pair of Hanmare McAslin and Meghna Arun Kumar led 5-2 on court three when the point was clinched.

Cvanciger gave the Red Wolves a 2-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-0 win on court two. Muro Castellvi widened the lead to 3-0 with a 6-2, 6-2 win on court three before Grigoreva clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-3 win on court one. McAslin trailed 2-6, 4-4 on court four, Arun Kumar led 7-5, 2-4 on court five and Millard led 7-6, 2-1 on court six when the Red Wolves clinched the victory.

A-State, making its first postseason appearance in program history, secures a 14th win in a season for the first time since finishing 16-8 back in 2002. With 27 wins over the last two seasons, the Red Wolves have their most in a two-year span since claiming 30 wins over the 1999 (13-8) and 2000 (17-4) seasons.

The Red Wolves meet the winner of North Texas and College of Charleston in the semifinals on Wednesday. Match time will not be before 10:30 a.m. (CT) and will be decided following the completion of matches today.
