ATLANTA, Ga. (8/30/25) – Arkansas State volleyball (1-1, 0-0 SBC) earned their first victory of the 2025 campaign by defeating Wofford (0-2, 0-0 SOCON) 3-0 (25-23, 25-12, 25-15) on Saturday afternoon inside O’Keefe Gymnasium.
Daedrianna Cail led the team in kills (12) and blocks (5), while Kaitlin Whitlock also reached double-digits in kills (10) and posted four service aces for the second time this season. The Red Wolves hit .344 with 46 kills, 42 assists and 41 digs as a team while limiting the Terriers to a .058 clip from the floor.
The first set was closely contested, with neither side leading by more than four points. A block assist by Cail and Whitlock pushed the Red Wolves ahead 21-17, but Wofford claimed six of the next eight rallies to force a tie.
An attack error by the opposition followed with a block assist from Erin Madigan and Haley Glunz resulted in the first set falling in A-State’s favor.
Kills from Cail and Whitlock sparked a 14-5 scoring run to open the second set, culminating in a 25-12 decision to move ahead 2-0. The Red Wolves posted 10 kills and six blocks in the set, while the Terriers hit -.120 with nine attack errors.
The third set was close through the first 16 rallies, but A-State claimed eight of the next nine to open a 17-8 lead. Wofford closed the gap to five, but four consecutive kills ended the rally effort as the Red Wolves notched the final set 25-15 and completed the sweep.
