JONESBORO, Ark. (10/17/25) – Arkansas State volleyball (12-6, 5-2 SBC) battled in five sets versus Texas State (8-10, 3-4 SBC), claiming a 3-2 (23-25, 25-12, 25-23, 21-25, 15-10) victory on Friday night inside First National Bank Arena.

Addison Collum led the Red Wolves with 16 kills while Devyn Lewis (14) and Daedrianna Cail (10) also reached double digits. Mia Maloney recorded a team-high 18 digs and Erin Madigan posted a season best of 42 assists.

As a team, A-State tallied 62 kills and a season-high 12 service aces on a .281 hitting percentage and notched 69 digs plus nine blocks defensively.

Both sides evenly split eight of the first 16 rallies before a 4-0 scoring run highlighted by back-to-back service aces from Maloney pushed A-State ahead 12-8. The Bobcats evened the score over the next eight rallies, but the Scarlet and Black responded by winning four of the next five.

The 19-16 advantage would be erased by a 6-0 scoring run and a rally attempt fell short as Texas State claimed the opening set 25-23.

An offensive surge consisting of six kills, a service ace and a block powered A-State to an early 12-6 advantage. The next two rallies did not fall in the Red Wolves’ favor, but seven of the next nine did as the lead grew to nine points.

Texas State showed early signs of a rally, but a 5-0 run ended hopes for the opposition as the match was evened at one set apiece.

A-State closed the gap on a 12-7 deficit after kills from Collum and Haley Glunz sparked a 7-2 run. Both sides won three rallies apiece before the Bobcats broke the tie and opened a four-point advantage.

The Red Wolves mounted a comeback bid and tied the set at 22-22 following a kill from Collum, but surrendered a point in the next rally. Collum added another to tie the game once again and followed Devyn Lewis with the final kill to move ahead in the match.

The opposition claimed another five-point advantage in the fourth set before A-State closed the gap by winning five of the next six rallies to make the score 16-15. Neither side gained the upper hand in the next 10 rallies, but the stalemate would be broken when Texas State forced a fifth set via a 3-0 run.

The Red Wolves fell behind 9-7 before a kill from Cail plus two blocks forced a lead change. Kaitlin Whitlock added a kill while an attack error extended the lead to 12-9, forcing a timeout.

Lewis landed a service ace following the break and Cail capped the 7-0 run with another kill to set up match point. The Bobcats recorded a kill, but the ensuing serve landed out of play as A-State secured a victory for the third consecutive match.
