JONESBORO, Ark. (11/1/25) – Arkansas State volleyball (16-7, 9-3 SBC) faced a setback in the second set versus Louisiana (12-10, 4-8 SBC), but regained the upper hand beyond that point in a 3-1 (25-21, 22-25, 28-26, 25-14) victory on Saturday afternoon inside First National Bank Arena.

Addison Collum recorded a team-high 11 kills on a .308 percentage and posted four blocks, while Kaitlin Whitlock (10) also reached double digits in kills. The Red Wolves recorded 49 kills and five service aces on a .179 percentage, and tallied 67 digs alongside 14 blocks defensively.

A-State broke a 6-6 tie in the opening set by taking seven of the next 10 rallies on three kills and four errors by the Ragin’ Cajuns. The lead stood at 16-11 before Louisiana closed the gap with four points over five rallies, but a kill and two blocks stonewalled the opposition’s momentum.

A four-point lead evaporated as a kill and attack error resulted in a 22-21 score, but two service errors and block assists for Van Veen and Daedrianna Cail secured the opening set.

A-State surrendered a three-point advantage via a 4-0 run by the opposition, making the score 12-11 before a service error tied the second set. Both sides exchanged the next 10 rallies before a 2-0 run highlighted by a kill from Whitlock plus block assists from Collum and Haley Glunz broke the tie.

The Red Wolves surrendered a 5-0 run, but back-to-back errors cut the deficit to 22-21. The Ragin’ Cajuns pulled away with three kills over the next four rallies to end the set.

Whitlock extended the Scarlet and Black’s advantage to 9-7 with a kill, sparking an 8-2 run that created a seven-point gap. Louisiana closed it to two points by taking six of the next seven rallies, but a service error and block assists for Cail and Whitlock bookended another point for Louisiana.

A-State eventually pulled away, reaching match point with a 24-20 advantage before a 5-0 run from the opposition resulted in extra points. Cail landed an kill plus a block assist alongside Van Veen to regain the lead, but a kill from the Ragin’ Cajuns tied the contest at 26-26.

Devyn Lewis responded with a kill, and Cail shut the door on a rally with another to push the Red Wolves ahead in the match.

With a 9-6 lead in hand during the fourth set, Collum posted a kill plus a solo block to start a 9-1 run that was capped by an ace from Mia Maloney. Louisiana would only be able to close the gap to seven before A-State used a 4-0 run to secure a 25-14 decision and a third consecutive victory.
