SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (3/5/22) – The Arkansas State men’s golf team posted a first-round 280 and stood in fourth place among 16 teams at the Desert Mountain Collegiate when second-round action on the Outlaw Course at the Desert Mountain Resort was suspended Saturday due to darkness.
Competing for the first time in the seventh-annual tournament hosted by the University of Michigan, the Red Wolves’ 280 was their second lowest single-round score of the season and put them in second place heading into the start of the second 18 holes.
The Red Wolves currently hold a one-stroke advantage over Michigan, are just three strokes behind Little Rock and within six of Nebraska. Mississippi State posted a tournament-best 276 for the first round and still leads the field at even par for both the first and second rounds combined.
Freshman Felix Krammer led the Red Wolves in the opening round, carding a 68 to tie his best single-round score of the season and place him tied for third. The Waakirchen, Germany, native was tied for sixth place when play was suspended, while junior Luka Naglic was leading the Red Wolves in fifth place.
Second-round play will resume tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. (CT), and the tournament’s third and final round will immediately follow. For the latest on A-State men’s golf, follow the team on Twitter (@AStateMGolf), Facebook (/AStateGolf) and Instagram (@astategolf).
