MILWAUKEE, Wis. (9/25/25) – Opening play at the prestigious Milwaukee Tennis Classic, the Arkansas State women’s tennis team picked up five wins across singles and doubles draws Thursday at the Western Racquet Club.

“We didn’t have the best start, but we were able to recover from that and fight through the ups and downs to finish the day on a high note,” said sophomore Carla Muro Castellvi. “I’m so proud of the team, and personally, played a very solid match staying calm in the critical moments.”

Competition began with doubles and the Red Wolves picked up two victories. A-State’s pair of Sarah Millard and Hanmare McAslin topped Emma Gu and Mary Bellia of Navy 6-3 while Carla Muro Castellvi and Lilly Cvanciger topped Emma Davis and Elise Ronja Barnstedt of Marquette 6-3.

In singles, A-State posted a 3-2 head-to-head record with both losses coming in the third set 10-point tiebreak. Meghna Arun downed Avery Voss of Miami (OH) 6-3, 6-3 and Anna Grigoreva topped Emma Gu of Navy 6-1, 6-2 for straight sets victories. Muro Castellvi earned a 6-2, 4-6, 10-5 decision over Francesca Miglio of South Florida for the Red Wolves’ third singles victory.  McAslin fell 6-2, 3-6, 10-4 against Karolina Jacobson of Wisconsin and Millard came up just short against Lola Glantz of Western Michigan 3-6, 6-0, 10-8.
