TROY, Ala. (4/6/24) – Arkansas State baseball (16-17, 3-8 SBC) was locked in a battle with Troy (22-11, 6-5 SBC) late, but the Trojans used seven unanswered runs to down the Red Wolves 12-5 on Saturday afternoon at Riddle-Pace Field.

Collin Maloney made his eighth start of the season, surrendering three earned runs on two hits and five walks while striking out three over 3.1 innings pitched. Three A-State batters recorded multiple hits in the contest, but Daedrick Cail led the team with two RBIs.

Brooks Bryan tied the game with a triple before Treymane Cobb Jr. made the score 5-4 with a single down the right-field line.

Brayden Caskey led off a solo-home run to left field in the sixth, tying the game at five runs apiece. It was the Scarlet and Black’s first home run since the ninth inning of a 7-4 victory at Arkansas-Pine Bluff on March 26.

Bryan brought in two more runs for the Trojans before Aidan Gilroy blew the game open with a grand slam. Will Butcher added one more run in the eighth inning, making the score 12-5 going into the final inning.
