HATTIESBURG, Miss. (1/1/26) – Crislyn Rose led Arkansas State women’s basketball (12-3, 3-0 SBC) with 23 points and posted a perfect 11-for-11 mark from the free-throw line in the Red Wolves’ 10th consecutive win, defeating Southern Miss (9-5, 2-1 SBC) 91-83 on Thursday evening inside Reed Green Coliseum.
The 10-game win streak, combined with the 11-game win streak from the 2024-25 season, marks the first time in program history the Red Wolves have won 10-plus consecutive games in back-to-back seasons.
Arkansas State shot 40 percent from the field (30-of-74), 29 percent from three-point range (9-of-31) and 81 percent (22-of-27) from the charity stripe. USM made 46 percent of their shots (27-of-59), but were limited to an 11-percent clip from the beyond the arc (2-of-18).
Mia Tarver (15), Zion Shannon (12), and Mimi McCollister (10) joined Rose in double digits. It is the third time four-or-more Red Wolves have scored 10-plus points in a game this season.
Southern Miss jumped first, gaining a 7-0 lead before Aniyah Ruddock gave the Red Wolves their first points. Yves Cox added two field goals for four points, but the Golden Eagles maintained a 24-19 advantage.
USM built momentum out of the quarter break and extended their lead to 12 points before a Rose layup and-one sounded a response by the Red Wolves. A standing layup from Cox paired with a Tarver triple and a Rose dribble-drive layup worked the halftime deficit to a manageable seven points, 45-38.
The Red Wolves used a combination of scores fueled by a trio of Shannon layups plus a basket from deep for Tarver to capture the lead for the first time, making the score 46-45 less than a minute into the second half. Both squads then traded five-point runs throughout the first five minutes of the third.
A-State was able to reach the free throw line often and took a two-point advantage into the final 10 minutes.
Rose hit the free throw line again to start the fourth, but A-State established their lead in the final minutes on back-to-back threes from McCollister and Payton Fields, putting A-State up 88-77. Free throws were distributed to both sides before the score settled at 91-83.
