POINT CLEAR, Ala. (4/15/24) – Opening play at the 2024 Sun Belt Conference Women’s Golf Championship, the Arkansas State women’s golf team is tied for ninth after the first round played at Lakewood Golf Club’s Dogwood Course.
A-State turned in a 13-over par 301 in the opening round and is 11 strokes back of Old Dominion for fourth place and spot in the match play semifinals Thursday. ULM leads the field at 4-under par 284 followed by Texas State (-1) and Georgia Southern (E) to round out the top three. The Red Wolves are tied with Marshall for ninth while Southern Miss (+3), Coastal Carolina (+6), James Madison (+9) and Georgia State (+10) complete the top eight.
Olivia Coit registered the low round of the day for the Red Wolves at 2-over par 74. She drained a team-high three birdies on the day and stands tied for 24th among the 65 players in the field. Morgan Beaulieu closed out a 3-over par 75 for a tie for 28th as she posted six pars and a birdie over the final seven holes. Elise Schultz and Ashley Kim finished up at 4-over par 76 and are among seven players tied for 34th. Anne-Lea Lavoie shot 8-over par 80 and is tied for 53rd.
Tee times for the second round begin at 8 a.m. off No. 1 and No. 10 tees. Live coverage begins at 10:30 a.m. on ESPN+ and live scoring is available on Golfstat.com.
