    COLLEGE STATION, Texas (8/29/26) – Arkansas State volleyball (0-2, 0-0 SBC) dropped the second matchup of the Texas A&M Invitational in a 3-0 (19-25, 15-25, 23-25) decision to Grand Canyon (1-2, 0-0 MWC) on Saturday afternoon inside Reed Arena.
     
    Kaitlin Whitlock posted a team-high 11 kills and Mia Maloney led the team in digs while Na’Khaela Rogers posted a team-leading four total blocks. As a team, the Red Wolves posted 38 kills on a .212 hitting percentage alongside 42 digs and 10 total blocks.
     
    Set 1
    The Red Wolves rebounded from an early 8-2 deficit by claiming six of the next eight rallies. Parker Stearns recorded two kills and a block assist during a 4-0 run that narrowed the score to 10-8.
     
    The deficit widened back to five rallies before another 4-0 run spearheaded by two kills from Addison Collum and two blocks put A-State back within one rally. Both sides evenly split the following six rallies, but the Lopes opened a 3-0 run and took a 20-16 advantage.
     
    Momentum remained in the opposition’s favor beyond that point, resulting in a 25-19 decision in the first set.
     
    Set 2
    The score stood at 5-5 when a 10-1 run for Grand Canyon created a nine-rally deficit. The Scarlet & Black claimed seven of the next 12 rallies in response, highlighted by two kills from Whitlock plus a service ace from Maloney.
     
    With the score at 20-13, the Lopes landed two kills plus a service ace of their own and pushed the lead to double digits. Calea Bush answered with her first collegiate kill, but the opposition matched it in the next rally to end the set at 25-15.
     
    Set 3
    Devyn Lewis posted two kills and a service ace from Addison Collum helped guide A-State to an early 5-2 advantage. The lead would be cut to 8-6 before four consecutive rallies fell in Grand Canyon’s favor.
     
    The score stood at 13-11 before Whitlock powered the Red Wolves to a 15-14 advantage with three kills. The Lopes regained the lead in the next two rallies, and after kills from Lewis and Ne’Khaela Rogers evened the score at 17-17, the opposition secured three more.
     
    Both sides exchanged points before Haley Glunz landed a kill and a block assist alongside Erin Madigan, closing the gap to one. The next seven rallies would alternate between the teams, resulting in a 25-23 score to secure the match for Grand Canyon.  
     
    Next Up
    A-State concludes competition at the Texas A&M Invitational on Sunday, Aug. 30, versus Cal Poly. The match is slated to begin at 2 p.m., and live stats will be available on AStateRedWolves.com.
