TULSA, Okla. (10/4/26) – Earning eight victories on Sunday, the Arkansas State women’s tennis team closed out the Hurricane Invite with 24 wins, eight in doubles and 16 in singles over the three-day event hosted by Tulsa.

The Red Wolves won three of four doubles matches Sunday and five of seven in singles. A-State finished 8-3 in doubles and 16-5 in singles on the weekend. By comparison, the Red Wolves had 13 total wins, four doubles and nine singles wins at the same event last season. Through two weekends of competition, A-State has a 16-4 record in doubles and a 30-9 ledger in singles.

“I’m really grateful that I get to be a part of this team,” said first year player Sara Kastakova. “This weekend really showed all the work and preparation we’ve been putting in, but I think what stood out the most was the energy we had as a team. We were constantly supporting each other on and off the court, and that made the whole weekend really special. I think it was a great weekend for all of us, and I’m really proud to be part of this team and I can’t wait for what’s to come.”

Kastakova and doubles partner Lilly Cvanciger won their fifth consecutive bout with a 6-4 victory over a pair from Tulsa. Carla Muro Castellvi and Lara Margocova teamed up for a 6-4 win against a Tulsa duo. Helena Bueno and Meghna Arun Kumar picked up a 6-2 win over a duo from Memphis for the third doubles victory of the day. Hanmare McAslin and Anna Grigoreva took a 6-2 setback against a New Mexico duo.

Grigoreva (6-2, 6-3), Arun Kumar (6-3, ret.) and Margocova (6-3, 6-3) earned singles victories against players from New Mexico. Cvanciger picked up a 6-0, 7-6 (3) win against a player from Omaha and Kastakoa kept her unbeaten streak alive with a 6-1, 6-4 win against a player from Memphis. McAslin was dealt a 4-6, 6-2, 3-6 setback against a Omaha standout while Bueno lost 1-6, 2-6 to a Tulsa participant.

A-State continues the fall slate Oct. 14-19 at ITA Regionals hosted by Memphis.
