JONESBORO, Ark. (3/27/24) – Set for a 16th straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament, the Arkansas State women’s bowling team is the No. 2 seed and will play the winner between William Smith and Fayetteville State in its opening match of the 2024 National Collegiate Women’s Bowling Championship as announced by the NCAA Wednesday afternoon in its selection show on NCAA.com.

The Red Wolves enter the tournament with an 82-26 record and finished third at the Conference USA Championship last weekend to earn one of eight at-large bids. A-State meets either William Smith or Fayetteville State in the Rochester Regional at 8:00 a.m. (CT) on April 5. The winner will face either Vanderbilt or Merrimack.

Joining the Red Wolves 18-team field are No. 1 seed Jacksonville State, No. 3 seed Youngstown State, No. 4 seed North Carolina A&T, Alabama State, Belmont Abbey, Duquesne, Fayetteville State, Louisiana Tech, Marian, Maryland-Eastern Shore, Maryville, Mercyhurst, Merrimack, Nebraska, Sam Houston, Vanderbilt and William Smith.

The 18 teams are split into four regions – two sites with four teams each, two sites with five teams each. All regionals are double elimination except for the play-in matches at the sites with five teams. Each round will consist of teams competing in a best-of-three mega-match format, bowled in the following order: five-person team match; Baker total pin fall; and best-of-seven Baker match play.

The four regional winners advance to the championship finals at Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park, Michigan from Friday, April 12, to Saturday, April 13. The championship final will air at 8 p.m. (CT), Saturday, April 13 on ESPNU.
