JONESBORO, Ark. (10/22/26) – Arkansas State (3-7-4, 1-5-2 SBC) ended with their second tie in a row with a 1-1 draw to South Alabama (4-7-3, 2-3-2 SBC) Thursday afternoon at the A-State Soccer Complex.

The first shot of the game didn’t come until the 13th minute, with Elleigh Newcomb firing the ball off target. A foul on South Alabama in the box set up a penalty kick, taken by Leigha Dobbins in the 20th minute. Dobbins sent the ball left, ricocheting off the keeper’s gloves and into the net for the A-State lead. The Red Wolves outshot the Jaguars nine to seven in the first half, with A-State threatening at the end of the first half with a trio of corner kicks.

An early handball in the box coming out of the second half set up a penalty kick for the road team, with South equalizing in the 48th minute. South Alabama held the momentum throughout the second half. The Jaguars took 11 total shots in the second half, three requiring keeper intervention. A late yellow card on A-State was the only bookkeeping of the day, taken in the 87th minute.

Equal with six total corners in the match, USA managed seven total shots on goal, to A-State’s six, with the Jags managing 18 shots on the day to the Red Wolves’ 12.
