JONESBORO, Ark. (5/19/26) – Arkansas State men’s basketball head coach Ryan Pannone announced the 12th and final addition to the 2026-27 roster with the signing of Moussa Sy on Tuesday.
“Moussa Sy is a 6’10 mobile and athletic big man that plays with extreme effort and energy,” said Pannone. “He’s an elite level rebounder and led the Grind Session in rebounding. Early on we didn’t think we would get a chance to get him, so we feel really lucky to be able to pick up a big man of his talent, potential and upside late.”
The West Oaks (FL) Academy product averaged 11 points alongside 12.1 rebounds and recorded 10 double-doubles in 13 contests in the Men’s Power Conference at the Grind Session, a winter circuit for elite high school basketball events. On Feb. 20, the forward tallied 19 points and 11 rebounds plus two blocks en route to a 61-60 win over Fort Erie.
“The thing that really stuck out to us when we watched was how hard he plays,” said Pannone. “Defensively he can defend multiple positions. He can switch, show and drop in the pick-and-roll, which makes him extremely valuable for us long term.”
Sy joins the 2026-27 roster alongside Diggy Coleman (Dothan High School), Amadou Doumbia (North Carolina A&T), Tameron Ferguson (Augustana), Anthony Hester (Mills University Studies High School), Aliou Maiga (South Plains College), Aaron McGee (Gillion Academy), Delang Muon (New Mexico Junior College), Rho Omed (Spire Academy), Jordan Pyke (Incarnate Word), Layne Taylor (Murray State), and Chaz Watson (Indian Hills CC)
“When we were evaluating him we really loved the way that he interacted with his teammates, what kind of person he was and the intel we got from his AAU and high school coaches,” said Pannone. “We think the value of getting a big man with his skills and the ability to be a great teammate and great person makes him a great addition to our program.”
