MADISON, Miss (4/28/26) – Jake Wallis and Thomas Schmidt are in the top five individually and the Arkansas State men’s golf team is third entering the final round of the Sun Belt Conference Championship at Annandale Golf Club.
A-State turned in a 1-under par 287 and has totaled 5-under par 571 over the first 36 holes of the 54-hole stroke play portion of the championship. Coastal Carolina (-9) paces the field while James Madison (-6) is second following a second round 8-under par 280. Southern Miss (-4), South Alabama (+1), Troy (+5), ULM (+8), Georgia Southern (+9), App State (+15) and Georgia State (+16) complete the top 10.
Jake Wallis followed up an opening round 4-under par 68 with a 3-under par 69 to total 7-under 137, one stroke back of Max Bengtsson of Coastal Carolina for the individual lead. Thomas Schmidt posted a second consecutive 2-under par 70 and is tied for fifth at 4-under par 140. Schmidt’s round was highlighted by an eagle on the fifth, birdie on the sixth, eagle on the seventh and birdie on the eighth. Cole Kirby is 1-over par 145 (71-74) and tied for 20th, Milan Reed is 5-over par 149 (75-74) and tied for 38th and Jake Lile is tied is 52nd at 8-over par 152 (77-75).
The third and final round is scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. Wednesday. The top four teams advance to match play beginning at 7:30 a.m. Thursday. Live coverage is available on ESPN+ and Scoreboard.
