Carla Wehmeyer – Arkansas State

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (4/24/26) – Senior thrower Selase Sampram claimed two of the nine events won by Arkansas State track and field on Friday at the Josh Reidinger Invitational.
 
Sampram recorded a distance of 47.27m (155-1.00) in the women’s discus throw and followed with a 15.89m (52-1.75) mark in the shot put. The Wylie, Texas, native holds five event wins in the outdoor season and is the only Red Wolf to win multiple events at a single meet in 2025-26.
 
Omar Hussein placed first in the men’s shot put with a personal-best distance of 18.38m (60-3.75). The freshman holds the third best shot put throw in the Sun Belt this outdoor season and moved to sixth in the Red Wolves’ outdoor history for the event.
 
Egor Kniazev secured the Scarlet and Black’s fourth first-place finish in a throws event with a 61.09m (200-5.00) hammer throw.
 
JoJo Modile also entered the A-State record book with a time of 13.69 in the women’s 100-meter hurdles. Modile finished second in the event, and Jada Buggs clocked in at 55.14 to win the 400-meter title.
 
Kiara Strayhorn claimed the top spot in the women’s long jump for a second time this season, besting 14 contestants with a distance of 6.09m (19-11.75).
 
Malena Cybak and Mary Beth Bailey led the Red Wolves’ distance runners in the women’s 800 and 1500 meters. Cybak registered a time of 2:15.20 in the former while Bailey posted a 17:46.47 mark in the latter to finish at first place in their respective events.
 
Carly Pujol registered a height of 4.11m (13-5.75) in the women’s pole vault to secure A-State’s ninth and final event win of the day. The Cape Girardeau native has secured an event win in four of her five appearances this outdoor season, and has cleared 4.00m (13-1.50) in all five.
